This post goes all the way back to June but I wanted to share with you little bit more about this missionary process of preparation.
The first two weeks of June were the Missionary Orientation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. All the new missionaries who had recently received calls and are preparing to enter the field, gathered together for a time of learning and fellowship. Synod had much to teach us, to get us ready for our service. We also had much to teach each other, perhaps the greatest thing we taught each other is that we are not alone, we go out together sharing in struggles and joys, praying for each other the whole way.
We were blessed by 34 new missionaries who are headed to the field! Click here to get to know more about the missionaries.
Of special excitement to us are the new missionaries to Latin America. For the first time in 10 years the work of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Latin America and the Caribbean Region is expanding! Seven of the new missionaries at Orientation will be coming to Latin America! We praise God for sending more workers as the harvest field is expanding in this area.
These seven new missionaries along with their families have answered the call to serve in the Lord in His church, at new mission plants and alongside existing mission teams. The group is blessed to include one new pastor going to the Dominican Republic, a Deaconess Intern (myself 😀 ) going to Peru, and many talented laity who have answered the Lord’s call.
Meet these new missionaries!
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38, ESV) Rejoice! The Lord has heard our prayers; He is sending out laborers!
Please pray for all of these new missionaries. Pray that God would raise up people to fund the mission and send us to the field. Pray for the teams at Synod that prepare our paperwork and get us ready to go. Also, pray that we would be patient as we await God’s plan for us to leave. Don’t forget to give glory to God for raising up these, who will go for His sake.
